Attaining Human Development in 2019 through WORK Consultancy Inc.

“That’s why we at WORK Consultancy Inc. focus on developing the entire business professional physically, mentally and socially as we understand unhealthy people can significantly impact on a country’s productivity.”
In Barbados, our greatest resource is our people. Therefore, our country is in crisis if these individuals become stagnated in their current state, no longer wanting to reach their full potential. The results can be catastrophic as low levels of productivity in the workplace and feelings of despair will hinder the thriving Barbadian economy we all wish to see.
For this reason, I developed WORK Consultancy Inc. This is an online environment that connects prospective employees and potential employers while fostering professional development. After interviewing employers, tertiary level students and unemployed individuals, I’ve noticed these groups are unsatisfied. Employers have a tedious recruitment process due to the lack of quality employees, students are unable to find internships and network with experts in their field and the unemployed are unable to secure their next job. Thus, this platform bridges the gaps of knowledge and experience in the business community through mentorship and discussion.
On our prospective employee’s dashboard, persons view all of the available job postings uploaded by employers. On the flip slide, employers are allowed to upload unlimited job postings and view all of the profiles of our prospective employees, allowing them to select the best candidates for the job even before they apply. But job hunting and recruitment cannot be effective without empowered citizens who produce innovative ideas. As such, our WORK-Mentor Programme is the first of its kind that connects the expert with the apprentice. We allow professionals to be mentored by an individual in their field who has five or more years of experience. This unique opportunity allows Barbadians to network with like-minded citizens who will provide counsel and direction to persons who are desirous in pursuing that career.
However, the goal is not achieved if we simply enhance our existing business sector and neglect other aspects of human development. According to the 2019 Indigo Wellness Index, Barbados is considered the 5th unhealthiest country in the world. This index stands as one of the most comprehensive records of its kind to date, covering 191 countries and is compiled by Richard Davies at Bloomsbury Economics. That’s why we at WORK Consultancy Inc. focus on developing the entire business professional physically, mentally and socially as we understand unhealthy people can significantly impact on a country’s productivity. Through We Connect individuals are able to participate in various discussions and online training hosted by non-governmental organisations, community-based organisations and notable individuals around the island. By utilising this tool, personal and professional development is achieved as individuals receive beneficial information and engage in discussions with other business professionals from around the island.
We understand that a country cannot develop without its people. Hence, by developing our greatest resource, our potential becomes limitless.
